Huntington Beach, CA – May 20th, 2010 – BrightCom, the performance leader in integrated telepresence and video conferencing solutions announced today that their Lumina Telepresence and ClearView Video Conferencing solutions support digital signage for advertising and promotions while the conferencing system is inactive. This will allow businesses, retail, medical offices and other organizations to utilize the system to run advertisements for products and services and at the same time enable their customers or employees to initiate and conduct a video conference call.

“This is a great way for businesses and organizations to gain a larger return on investment as well as allow them to interact with their employees, customers and partners via videoconferencing as an on-demand service,” state Bob McCandless, CEO of BrightCom. “The systems can be used in an always on mode set up in public spaces to promote events, products and services and simultaneously link people together to talk instantly about those events, products or services. Businesses can also use this internally for displaying their corporate news, events or general marketing pieces to enhance their culture on a daily basis.”

BrightCom’s Visual Collaboration System is a processor based, software driven infrastructure that broadcasts high resolution images to each BrightCom endpoint including telepresence suites, conference rooms, desktops, mobile video carts and custom kiosks. Using this software based system allows transferring of data in its native format minimizing the amount of bandwidth utilized. Modifying or changing advertisements is instantaneous as new images can be quickly uploaded and displayed in real-time.

At any point while the images are being displayed someone who wishes to conduct a meeting can approach the system and simply move the mouse or touch the screen to dial another person and start a video broadcast and/or data presentation.

BrightCom’s digital signage support will be sold as a separate module that will require the Visual Collaboration System (VCS).

The VCS allows the integration of both HD and SD video conferencing with a full set of web conferencing features including remote control of another participant’s laptop or desktop, cooperative markup and data sharing including support for Microsoft Office documents, Adobe Acrobat PDFs, high resolution images and video clips. The VCS online infrastructure connects all BrightCom endpoints including telepresence suites, modular telepresence workstations, mobile telepresence units, video conference rooms, mobile video carts, desktops, laptops, remote mobile devices, and SIP enabled conference systems.

Digital signage has advantages in many different public and private spaces. For example, hotels can offer promotions, events and amenity information while guests can approach the system to speak to a concierge who is in another location. Medical offices can report on the latest health news, pharmaceutical information and wait times while instantly connecting patients to office staff and nurses as they fill out initial medical forms. Retail stores can also use similar kiosk systems to promote their products, sales and in store events as customers start a session with a sales person or customer service representative.
